Dr. Marco Caballeros

Dr. Caballeros always thought about becoming a dentist, but it wasn’t until his eldest daughter was born that he decided to pursue his goal. He attended the Texas A&M Baylor College of Dentistry to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree before going on to join Baylor’s Advanced Education in General Dentistry post-doctoral program. At this time, he was able to expand his skill set. He expanded his experience and knowledge in surgical, cosmetic, and sedation dentistry.

A great achievement of Dr. Caballeros was completing his Fellowship with the Academy of General Dentistry. Earning this title required 500 hours of continuing education and passing a comprehensive examination with 400 questions. This Fellowship allows him to stay up to date with the newest developments modern dentistry has to offer.

When he isn’t at the dental office, Dr. Caballeros’ top priority is his family. He enjoys going out to movies and concerts with his wife, Celia, as well as spending time with his daughters, Victoria and Sofia. He also has a passion for traveling all around the country and the world.

Dr. Carlos Parra

Dr. Parra was born and raised in Barcelona, Spain. He graduated from dental school at Universitat Internacional de Catalunya before completing a one-year clinical residency in Periodontology. He also served as a pre-doctoral clinical instructor at UIC where he was involved in research relating to Oropharyngeal Dysphagia and oral hygiene. After practicing in Barcelona for three years, he made the decision to relocate to Boston. He earned his Certificate in Periodontics at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston.

In 2015, Dr. Parra became a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Periodontics at Texas A&M College of Dentistry in Dallas. He has received the Leslie M. Salkin Award for the highest-scoring candidate of the American Board of Periodontology oral examination. He’s lectured both nationally and internationally in the field of Periodontics.

Currently, Dr. Parra is a proud member of numerous dental organizations, including the American Academy of Periodontology, American Dental Association, International Team of Implantology, Hispanic Dental Association, and several others. Working part-time at On-Point Dentistry, Dr. Parra is able to provide our patients with the convenience of receiving advanced treatment, like surgical dental implant placement, without having to leave the practice.

I’ve found my new dentist! This was my first visit to On Point Dentistry, and I was completely impressed by the professionalism and care of Dr. Caballeros and his team. From the front desk to the X-ray room and dentist chair, they were welcoming, thorough and detailed. Dr. Caballeros took the time to explain my X-rays, answer my questions, and we discussed next steps. Thank you On Point Dentistry for a great experience!

How do I get emergency dental care?

If you have a life-threatening emergency, call 911. The first step when you are experiencing any other type of dental emergency is to give us a call to explain what is going on.  Most hospital ERs and urgent care clinics aren’t equipped to handle dental emergencies. If you go there, you are unlikely to receive the treatment you need to get to the root of the issue. At On Point Dentistry, we offer same-day appointments for emergency visits, so you don’t need to wait. Dental emergencies are often indications of bigger dental issues, so they are a sign to get back into the habit of regularly visiting a dentist for checkups. This way, you can save time, money, and discomfort in the future.

How much does a dental check-up & cleaning cost near Little Elm?

The cost of dental treatment can vary depending on geography and other factors, including the dental health of the patient. A checkup and cleaning should begin with going over your health history and a discussion of any concerns that you have. It should also include a thorough exam completed by the dentist, a professional cleaning, X-rays, and an oral cancer screening. The average cost in markets across the United States is between $200 and $350. If you have dental insurance, the cost of preventive visits is likely partially or fully covered by your plan, so you should confirm this with your provider ahead of time.

What do you do if you can't afford a dentist?

Dentistry is all about prevention. It is much more affordable to work with a dentist to prevent issues before they arise and become serious. If you have access to dental insurance, this is an excellent tool to take advantage of. Aside from dental insurance, you could look for a dentist who has a Loyalty Savings Program. This way, you can enjoy many of the same benefits of dental insurance by choosing a plan from the dental practice directly. Another option is to apply for a third-party financing plan, like through CareCredit. This way, you can split the cost of your treatment into manageable monthly installments with little to no interest. To learn more about financial options, don’t hesitate to give us a call.

What level of education is required to be a dentist?

All dentists in the United States must receive either a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or a Doctor of Dental Sciences (DDS) from one of the 67 accredited dental schools in the country. Acceptance into dental school requires a bachelor’s degree. Dental school takes three years of classroom and hands-on learning to complete. Lastly, all dentists are required to complete a certain number of continuing education hours to keep their license to practice.
